Anti-reflux surgery is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). The actual procedure only involves making tiny incisions in the abdomen.
GERD is a condition in which acid and food freely reflux backward from the stomach into the lower esophagus. It causes symptoms of heartburn, indigestion, chronic cough, and asthma. Chronic reflux can lead to ulceration, narrowing of the esophagus, Barrett’s esophagus, and esophageal cancer.
Although medications control symptoms by decreasing the amount of acid that the stomach produces, they cannot actually stop reflux. The most effective way to resolve this condition is through our special type of surgery.

We also offer robotic-assisted surgery for hiatal hernia, inguinal hernia, and ventral hernia repair. Dr. Lunderman was the first surgeon in our area to perform robotic-assisted hernia repair.
Robotic surgery uses a combination of robotic, computer, and optical technologies to assist surgeons with the operation. Each instrument’s movement is controlled by the surgeon.

Dr. Lunderman performs robotic assisted colon resection, with intracorporial anastomosis. This state-of-the-art surgery, coupled with Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol, leads to faster recovery with less morbidity.
